Morris Water Maze

The Morris Water Maze test is utilized to study spatial learning and memory in rodents. By studying and animal’s ability to find a hidden platform to escape from a pool of water, we can assess their ability to learn and remember  the location of a platform. Given rodents’ size to volume ratio, they are highly motivated to seek escape and can be trained relatively quickly to locate a hidden platform. Using this assay we can assess test compounds effects of both learning and memory.
