Dr. Rebecca Krall
Director of Data Science
Dr. Rebecca Krall is the Director of Data Science at Melior. She has expertise in applying machine learning techniques to preclinical research, with a particular focus on neuroscience.
Becca holds a PhD in neurobiology from the University of Pittsburgh, where she also earned a minor in computer science during her undergraduate studies. Across her decade of research experience, she has focused on integrating computational techniques into preclinical research. Prior to starting at Melior, she pursued post-doctoral training where she investigated neural circuits of auditory behavior in mice. There she gained hands-on experience using Matlab and Python to build predictive machine learning models to analyze complex datasets, including two-photon neural data, pupillometry, and mouse behavioral responses.
In her current role, Becca has developed models to automatically detect and quantify mouse scratching behavior in videos. She has created Python-based tools to simplify data analysis. She also focuses on improving internal processes, managing data to make it more accessible, and streamlining workflows to drive innovation and efficiency across the organization.
Becca is excited to be working with the team at Melior to apply state-of-the-art techniques to solve research challenges. In her free time, Becca enjoys riding her bike, camping, and spending time with her family, friends, and her two dogs.
